Hey Everyone,

As promised today we’re going to talk about London’s Fashion Week Men’s, which just wrapped up.

The runways showed some incredible pieces, some that you should try (chunky knits and cool streetwear) and some that most of you should skip (long dress-like tunics and bondage inspired midriff cutouts). Here are a few of my favorite trends the shows:

–Surprising but thoughtful uses of color (like this look from Johnathon Saunders).

–I love a good monochromatic look, but I was pleasantly surprised by some of the bright bursts of orange, red, and even pink that I saw on the runways. The key is to not overdo it, if you’re wearing a bright color in one item of clothing, keep the rest of your look pretty subdued so you don’t look like you’re desperate for attention.

–Chunky knits and quirky accessories (like this look from Topman).

The thought of wearing knits in winter is kind of a no-brainer, but I like that designers were using interesting colors, textures, and patterns woven into the knitwear to make them look current. Also, I love when accessories like bags and backpacks are included in a runway look because it makes it look more like something you would see in real life. We have an excellent selection of bags you can find here that would add practicality and a little bit of style to your own daily looks.

–Color Blocking (Christopher Shannon’s show especially had some bold colorblocking).

I love this classic style and it is a great way to add a little bit of panache to a regular button up. Also, if you find color blocking with more muted tones, this is a look that can be appropriate at a lot of offices as well as just for casual wear. Like this shirt that we carry is a great one for going out or going to work.

Also, in case you were wondering, certain things are pretty much always in style and were found on the runways again this year. For example a perfectly fitting coat, denim jackets, and crisp tailored looks in black and white will always be considered fashionable.

Until next time… Lisa
